Eventide is a counter-style restaurant located in the Fenway area. Eventide Fenway is the fast, casual version of Andrew Taylor and Mike Wiley’s beloved Eventide Oyster Co in Portland Maine. Located just steps away from Fenway Park, Eventide offers an stunning selection of high quality seafood to enjoy before, during, or after a game. Some fan favorites include the Eventide Brown Butter Lobster Roll, the Fish Sandwich, and freshly shucked oysters. Tristen Leone VI is an avid fan of Eventide and she “loves the oyster rolls and French Fries”.
My personal favorite menu item was the Brown Butter Lobster Roll ($19). Unlike most Lobster Rolls, Eventide ditches the mayo and the conventional bun entirely. Their brown butter-marinated lobster sits perfectly in a fluffy, Chinese Bao, blending comfort food with just the right amount of sophistication. The combination of brown butter and Bao creates a long-lasting sweet and savory flavor that is difficult to forget. In addition, the sprinkling of chopped green onion adds refreshing touch and much-needed pop of color to the lobster roll.
To accompany your meal, Eventide offers a wide variety of sides, such as baked beans, a side salad, kimchi, homemade potato chips, and coleslaw. I chose the baked beans ($4), and was pleasantly surprised by their delicious flavor. They were unexpectedly spicy, but not for long, as this spicy touch is soon absorbed by a wonderful sweetness. I would not recommend this side for vegetarians, vegans, or pescatarians, as the beans were surrounded by a bed of flavorful roasted pork. For those who do not eat meat, the coleslaw is a fantastic option for a side. Eventide also offers a smoked tofu sandwich with onion rings, iceberg lettuce, and roasted jalapeno mayo.
To wash down all of these flavor profiles, Eventide carries several beverages on tap, including Katalyst Kombucha, Thai tea, and Maine Root soda. For those who are 21 and over, Eventide also has an extensive wine list, which varies based on location.
To finish off this delicious meal, I tried Eventide’s homemade brown butter soft serve. Brown butter and butterscotch are a few of their many seasonal flavors. The brown butter soft serve is a staple at the Portland location, but it is becoming increasingly popular here in Boston. Not only is the ice cream fresh, creamy, and delicious, but it is also a sight for sore eyes. Eventide makes sure their ice cream is precisely swirled and generously served. The toppings and flavors may vary, but the execution is always perfect. So rich and flavorful, this ice cream might just need a bao bun to temper it.
