After winning their very first EIL championship last season, all eyes have been on the Winsor Varsity Volleyball Team: luckily for us Winsor fans, the team has had an equally strong start to the 2025 season. Training hard every afternoon, the Volleyball Team has worked its way to a very impressive 10-3 record as of October 21st. So far the team has had only a few tough losses and many thrilling victories.

One of these wins in particular stood out as the highlight of the season for many, including sophomore Summer Gu ’28 who recalls that “beating Austin Prep” has been her favorite moment thus far. This win stuck out for Gu because the current team had “never beaten them before so everyone was really excited about it.” Senior Captain Susan Zuo ’26 adds that the team has “come close a couple of times, so it was a really special moment for us.” Although Winsor played this game without a home court advantage, Zuo believes that a contributing factor to this exciting victory is that “the vibes were just really good that day.” Her comment is a testament to the team’s strong spirit and will, as even without a cheering crowd, they were still able to pull off this long-awaited victory.

Another highly anticipated moment for the team was their game on UTL against Dana Hall, a team that Gu believes is currently Winsor’s “biggest competitor in the EILs.” Additionally, Zuo notes that “it’s the best game ever” because of the enthusiastic Winsor fans who always show up to support the team. Although this game led to a tough loss, the spirit of the Winsor fans still remained strong! Gu also mentions that Varsity Volleyball is “looking forward to hopefully making NEPSACS,” as the team strives for another incredibly successful postseason. We all wish the volleyball team the best of luck for the rest of their season and look forward to cheering them on to another EIL victory.
