New Club Spotlight

New club alert! Check out the Winsor Detectives Club on Day 6 in Room 206, where you can solve riddles and play fun investigative games such as Clue, Codenames, and more! Club heads Emma Roffman ’27 and Aoife Keane ’27 have enjoyed mysteries and riddles since they were young. During the Winsor Mexico trip to Yucatán last spring, their love for games and riddles grew even more. They used fun games and tricks to pass time during this trip and later decided to make a club out of it. “We wanted to create a space that’s less high commitment compared to other clubs, to relax during lunch, while still stimulating your brain but in a fun way,” Keane said. So, if you ever need a break from grades, sports, or extracurricular pressure, the Winsor Detectives Club is the place for you!

“We want to provide a fun way to level up your critical thinking and problem solving skills,” stated club advisor, English teacher, and fellow riddle lover Mr. Henningsen. “We also have lots of food.” In addition to reasoning and critical thinking skills, this club can also be useful if you ever are entertaining others and need a riddle to pull out of your back pocket!

Upon arriving in 206, we got a first hand experience of what goes on in this club. We were greeted with a large display of board games. We ended up voting and decided on playing Coup, a strategy-based card game that tests players’ ability to lie. To win this game, players need to gather coins and take out other team’s cards/characters while keeping their own safe! But beware, people may be lying. We played in teams of two to four and ultimately ended in a tie. Winsor can be a pretty stressful environment, but we found that this club is the perfect way to get away from that for a little while. Our visit was fun and interactive, with the perfect balance of competitiveness. We highly recommend you check out Winsor Detectives club and bring your problem solving skills with you!
