What’s Winsor Wearing for Halloween?

Pumpkins are appearing, candy is calling, and Winsor students are ready to bring creativity to Halloween this year! Though most students don’t dress up during school hours, conversations about costumes and plans fill the halls as we slowly approach the end of the month. For many, Halloween is about self expression and a chance to show personality through an inventive costume.

For Sheri Habib ’29, Halloween is all about inventive costumes and friendship. “This year, I’m dressing up as a pirate so I have an eye patch, a red skirt, and a lot of costume jewelry! I love that I can be creative when coming up with costumes and even matching with friends–it’s what makes Halloween my favorite holiday.”

Many seniors are taking this opportunity to reflect on their childhood. Selina Huang ’26 shared that she is dressing up as Eloise, the beloved character from Kay Thompson’s Eloise, along with friends who are dressing as other nostalgic figures from their favorite childhood stories. She shared, “We wanted to reconnect with our childhood memories during senior year–it feels nostalgic and fun.” Others are embracing a more glamorous look. “I’m dressing up as a flapper girl,” said Mia Gonzalez ’26. “Halloween gives us a chance to have fun with our friends, especially now that we are older and busier.” For Gonzalez, the costume is a way to capture the elegance and excitement of a past era while celebrating with friends.

Whether finding creativity through costumes, revisiting beloved childhood characters, or finding inspiration in the glitter of the Roaring Twenties, Winsor students are finding their own ways to keep the spirit of Halloween alive.
