Este invierno, los atletas de Winsor han demostrado su talento en la piscina, la cancha de baloncesto y squash, la pista de hockey, y el cuarto de entrenamiento. Los equipos de natación y de squash han sido especialmente exitosos, ya que los dos han ganado cada competencia del Eastern Independent League (EIL).

Sin embargo, la primavera ya está sobre nosotros y los atletas de esta temporada están listos y emocionados para comenzar a reunir con su equipo y practicar para dos meses exitosas. Meg Madison ’24, una capitana de lacross, dijo, “Tenemos muchos jugadores que están regresando del equipo que ganó la competencia de EIL el año pasado. Estamos muy emocionados de continuar ese ímpetu esta temporada!” Y es verdad que lacrosse tuvo una temporada muy triunfante en 2022; el equipo tuvo un porcentaje de ganancia de 73% ya que ganaron ocho juegos y sólo perdieron tres. ¡Incluso tuvieron una victoria contra Milton Academy (11-5), una escuela más grande que Winsor, y conocida por su atletismo impresionante!

Track y tenis también tuvieron temporadas muy exitosas el año pasado. Los dos deportes ganaron el EIL el año pasado, con el tenis también ganando el campeonato del New England Preparatory School Athletic council (NEPSAC) mientras siendo invicto contra cada escuela que jugaron. 

Como los otros deportes de primavera, crew está muy entusiasmada por continuar el exito que tuvieron este otoño. Mientras escribía su anticipación para los próximos meses, Trisha Manda ’25 dijo, “Estoy muy emocionada por la temporada de la primavera porque tenemos tantas regatas y el espíritu del equipo es muy alto. En la primavera, el equipo tiene tanta diversión y con tantas regatas, siento que nos acercamos mucho mientras entrenamos por competiciones.” 

Los últimos deportes de la primavera, softbol y golf, también están esperando tener temporadas divertidas y victoriosas. Como lacrosse, softbol tuvo una victoria impresionante contra Milton Academy (6-3) el año pasado y ha tenido mucho éxito en el EIL, ya que derrotaron a Pingree, Concord Academy y Bancroft en 2022. Además, el talento está creciendo en el equipo de golf de Winsor. ¡Corre la voz de que el equipo tendrá “cortes” este año!

A Look ahead to Spring Sports (English Translation)

This winter, Winsor athletes have demonstrated their talent in the pool, squash and basketball courts, rinks, and the training room. The swim and squash teams have been particularly successful, given that they have won every meet or match in the Eastern Independent League (EIL).

However, the spring is now upon us and the athletes of this season are ready and excited to reunite with their teams and practice for two winning months. Meg Madison ’24, a co-captain of lacrosse, said, “We have a lot of returning players from our team last year which made it to the EIL finals. We are super excited to build off that momentum this season!” And it is true that lacrosse had a very successful season in 2022; the team had a winning percentage of 73% as they won eight games and only lost three. They even had a win against Milton Academy (11-5), a school bigger than Winsor, and known for their impressive athletics!

Track and tennis also had very successful seasons last year. The two sports finished the school year winning the EIL, with tennis also winning the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) while also being undefeated against every school they faced.

Just like the other spring sports, crew is enthusiastic about building on their successful fall While describing her anticipation for the next couple of months, Trisha Manda ’25 said, “I am very excited for the spring season because we have so many regattas and the team spirit is so high. In the spring the team has so much fun and with so many regattas, I feel like we get really close as we train hard together for races.”

The last spring sports, softball and golf, also are hoping to have fun and successful seasons. Like lacrosse, softball had an impressive victory against Milton Academy (6-3) last year and they had a lot of success in the EIL, as they beat Pingree, Concord Academy, and Bancroft in 2022. Also, talent is rising on the golf team. Rumor has it that the team will have cuts this year!
