March Moves: Playlist of the Issue

Welcome back to POI! This issue, we’re sharing some of our favorite songs that keep us pumped and ready to go as we head into spring.

Gigi: “Bayside – Radio Edit” – Obskür

If you know me, you know that I love a good bit of house. Bayside is almost always stuck in my head for the rest of the day after I listen to it. It’s got great energy that goes well with every setting, whether you’re in the car with friends or going on a run! Top notch.

Izzy: “Love is a Laserquest” – Arctic Monkeys

One of Arctic Monkeys’ more underrated songs, “Love is a Laserquest” flaunts the band’s signature melancholic melody and pairs it beautifully with a taste of electric guitar. With an eclectic mix of lyrics, this song has a poetic quality that’s perfect for braving the harsh wind on cold days.

SPECIAL:

For this POI, we checked in with our winter sports captains to find out what music fueled their dubs this season!

Basketball

Anissa Patel: “My favorite game day song is ‘Can’t Hold Us’ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. It really gets me in the mindset of locking into basketball and forgetting everything else going on in school and extracurriculars. It’s also a great pump up song for practices, and it’s just a mood lifter overall!”

Squash

Lily Levitzky: “I would say ‘Pound the Alarm’ by Nicki Minaj is one of our favorite hype songs. It gets me in the zone and ready to play my best, and Nicki is a great empowering artist who tells us to be powerful.”

Ice Hockey

Ally Kennedy: “We have been listening to the song ‘Let it Grow’ from The Lorax! We really like this song because it is super inspirational. When we play this song with the hockey team, everyone gets really into it, as you may have seen at the lip sync battle.”

Swimming

Holiday Host: “Winsor Varsity Swimming loves ‘Only Time’ by Enya. The song’s peaceful and smooth chord progression is perfect for pre-race visualization.”
